Discover how the desert comes alive after dark! Do you know which animals change colors when you use a blacklight?
We will take a short hike on uneven cobbled desert terrain on the hill behind Cerro Coso Community College looking for scorpions and other nocturnal creatures that inhabit our desert.
Bring your camera or cell phone to capture photos of some of our nocturnal creatures. The moon will be near full on this evening so the desert will be well lit while we are out.
This is a family friendly event, everyone is invited to join. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. This is a great way to explore the desert at night and have the comfort of being in a group at the same time.
Evenings are still warm and dry so be sure to bring water. Bring a flashlight so you can see where you are walking. Wear closed-toed shoes and bring a blacklight if you have one. I use the uvBeast V3 365nm, you can purchase it on Amazon. If you purchase through the link, you will be directly supporting my small business as I will receive a small commission.
